Edward raced through the Fork's High School parking lot a little faster than he should have been, but he needed to see Bella.
He hadn't seen her all weekend because she had been camping with Charlie. He wondered why Bella would even consider camping... she didn't like to even hike. He laughed out loud.
Edward swiftly whipped around into a parking space; to another person it would have seemed too tight, but Edward's Volvo made it. He leaped out quickly -- or quick to people standards -- before the Volvo was even properly shut off, and began walking toward the school's doors. He searched through the students' and teachers' thoughts, but oddly enough none seemed to contain Bella's name. He wanted to know where she was; he was getting anxious.

Veronica drove up, and parked her car in the parking lot of Forks High School. She turned off the car, grabbed her bag, which contained all of her teaching supplies, plus some personal necessities of hers, and got out of the car. She shut her door and locked it, and headed towards the front doors of the school.
She didn't get far, before she spotted a student looking around like he had lost something important. As she got closer, she realized that it was one of the Cullen kids.
"Can I help you with anything?" she asked, as she got closer.

Edward heard someone speaking to him, and swung around. He squinted his eyes as he tried to place her face. "No thanks. Just looking for someone." He replied straightforwardly. He wasn't used to people talking to him so boldly, seeing as humans naturally shy away from creatures like himself. He shrugged the confusion off, assuming that she was just an overconfident person.

Veronica nodded, and readjusted the shoulderstrap of her bag. She knew that he was probably looking for Bella Swan. Veronica hadn't been in Forks for two months yet, and even she knew that Edward and Bella were hardly ever apart, and this was one of those rare moments. Thinking for a moment, she tried to remember if she had seen Ms Swan in the parking lot on her way into the school. It didn't take her long to come to the conclusion that she hadn't.
"Well, if you need anything, let me know," she said over her shoulder, as she turned and headed towards the health room.

Edward nodded in her direction, as she began to walk toward the school's doors. He turned around to the parking lot, straining to hear if Bella's ancient red truck was rolling down the highway yet. Why wasn't she here?

Bella swerved into the parkinglot, and into a parking spot. This wasn't like her. As soon as she was parked, she tucked a stray clump of hair that had fallen out of her ponytail, and turned off her trucks noisy engine. She ran her hand across the steering wheel, before she jumped out of the truck, and banged the door shut. It wasn't until after she had shut and locked the door, that she realized that all of her stuff was still inside.
With a growl of frustration, she went through her keys, hurridly trying to find the right one, growing more and more late by the second.

Edward appeared by her side lightning-quick and just as silent, gently pulling the keys from her cold, fumbling fingers. The next second he had her things retreived from the ancient truck and her keys placed in her bag. He leaned leisurely against the rusting metal door, but with a worried look plastered boldly across his pale face. His golden eyes burned. But he did not say a word.

Bella took her things from Edward, sliding the strap of her bag over her shoulder. "Thanks," she said, looking at him, with a soft smile. She saw the look of worry on his face, and moved closer to him.
"I'm ok...I'm just...running late, is all. My alarm clock didn't go off, and Charlie left early this morning...." Bella sighed, and closed her eyes momentarily.

Edward put a hand on her shoulder to calm her down a little. She was acting fluttering and stressed. "Late is not normal for you. You're always here before everyone. Is something the matter?" He was truly worried about her. Bella closed her eyes, and Edward ran a hand over her face gently. "Tired?"

Bella sighed, feeling the cold skin of Edward's hand, as it gently slipped over the skin of her face. It made her feel better, and she opened her eyes and looked at Edward, a soft smile on her face. "Yeah...I'm tired. I was up late working on a research paper."

"Are you sure that's all, love?" Edward question lightly.

Bella looked up into Edward's face. She'd always been a transparent liar, especially with Edward. But it wasn't exactly a lie. She had been up writing a research paper, but she'd been up long after she'd finished writing it too. She wasn't sure why either, and that's what bothered her. She'd wanted to sleep, but had been unable to. Like she knew something was about to happen, but not knowing what.
She closed her eyes and nodded. "I just...didn't get much sleep last night."

After Alice arrived to school she noticed Bella and Edward over by Bella's old truck. She danced over to them in a humanly manner not to draw attention to her graceful movements. Once she reached Bella and Edward she gave her brother a hug and kissed Bella on the cheek.
"Good morning" She said in her perfectly smooth voice then linked arms with Bella. Her cold skin tingled a bit as the heat from Bella's body came into contact with Alice's stone cold skin.

Edward noticed his small sister Alice dancing over their way. He sighed. He'd just have to wait until after school or sometime when he and Bella were alone to continue trying to figure Bella's unhappiness out. "Hello, dear sister." Edward greeted, in attempt to cover his anxiousness. Bella didn't look much happier than before Alice arrived, as she stood there linking arms, and that deepend Edward's concern. Usually Alice's presence brightened Bella's dreary moods. But his questioning seemed like it should wait.

"Why all the long faces?" Alice asked while she tugged on Bella then shot a crocked look to Edward. Even though she couldn't read minds likes Edward could she knew something was wrong. Bella lightens up when ever shes around but today, nothing like a brick wall almost.
Before Alice could ask what was wrong she noticed that students and teachers were headed in. "I'll see you to at lunch" It was almost a question the way she said it, then danced off in to the school.
